The oldest arboretum in this part of Europe, laid out by a Dubrovnik noble family in the fifteenth century, and the gardens where Margaery and Olenna Tyrell do their scheming. Two 500-year-old plane trees stand at the entrance. It is about twenty kilometres north-west of the city — roughly half an hour by car or an hour on the local bus — and it is the one location on this list that needs planning rather than a walk. Combine it with Ston or the Pelješac wine road and it stops being a detour.
