Uetliberg has a rich history dating back to the Roman era. It was used as a strategic lookout point due to its commanding views over the surrounding area. In the 19th century, it became a popular excursion destination, and the first hotel was built on the summit in 1838. Today, Uetliberg is a well-loved recreational area, with modern amenities and well-maintained trails.

The journey takes about 20 minutes. From the station, it is a short hike to the summit. Alternatively, visitors can drive to the base of the mountain and hike up, or take a cable car from Adliswil to Felsenegg and hike along the ridge to Uetliberg.
There is no entrance fee to visit Uetliberg. However, if you wish to climb the observation tower, there is a small fee of CHF 2. The S10 train ticket from Zurich Hauptbahnhof to Uetliberg station costs around CHF 8.60 for a one-way trip. Cable car tickets from Adliswil to Felsenegg cost approximately CHF 5.60 one way.
