Cala Salada: A Pine-Fringed Cove Near Sant Antoni

Cala Salada is a small, beautiful cove on Ibiza's west coast, a few kilometres north of Sant Antoni de Portmany. Surrounded by pine-covered hills, with sandy shallows and water in every shade of turquoise, it is one of the island's most photographed beaches and a favourite with locals as well as visitors.

Next door, reached by a short path over the rocks, is Cala Saladeta, an even smaller and more secluded sandy cove. Together they make a lovely escape from the busier beaches of Sant Antoni bay.

What to Expect

  • Clear water: ideal for swimming and snorkelling around the rocky edges of the bay.
  • Fishermen's huts: traditional boat shelters line part of the shore, adding to the picturesque setting.
  • A beach restaurant: there is a restaurant just behind the beach.
  • Cliff jumping spots: people jump from the rocks nearby, but only do this if you know the water depth and conditions.

Access and Parking

The road down to Cala Salada is narrow and parking at the bottom is very limited. In the summer season, access for private cars has been restricted, with parking higher up and a shuttle or a steep walk down. Rules change, so check current access arrangements before you go.

Tips for Visiting

  • Arrive early in high season for the best chance of parking and space on the sand.
  • Wear sturdy shoes if you plan to walk over to Cala Saladeta.
  • Bring snorkelling gear to explore the rocks.
  • Visit in June or September for calmer, quieter days.
