Chinois Ibiza: A Small Club with a Big Reputation

Chinois is one of Ibiza's newer clubs, and one of its most talked about. It opened in 2022 in Ibiza Marina, about a ten-minute walk from the centre of Ibiza Town, in the building that previously housed Heart Ibiza. Within a few seasons it had made the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs list, ranking 83rd in 2025.

Its brand director has described the difference neatly: if the other clubs are supermarkets, Chinois is a delicatessen. It is deliberately smaller than the island's superclubs, with a capacity of around 1,000, and it books for quality over big names.

Inside the Club

Chinois is built around a single main room rather than a maze of spaces. The design takes its cue from the 1920s, with dim lighting, a carefully tuned sound system and 360-degree projection walls that wrap visuals around the whole dancefloor. The effect is intimate and immersive at the same time, closer to a stylish city club than a stadium show.

It is owned by Island Hospitality, the group behind a number of restaurants and venues in London and Ibiza.

Music and Residencies

The music policy leans underground, with a focus on house and its many offshoots rather than commercial electronic sounds. Residencies change each season, but in 2025 the programme included Honey Dijon, Kerri Chandler, Claptone's The Masquerade, Bedouin's SAGA, Francis Mercier's Sòley and Johannes Goller's TRIP, along with the long-running gay party La Troya. Getting There

Chinois is on Passeig Joan Carles I in Ibiza Marina, on the Talamanca side of Ibiza Town's harbour. If you are staying in Ibiza Town, Marina Botafoch or Talamanca you can walk there. From Playa d'en Bossa it is a short taxi ride. Because it is in town rather than out on a country road, getting home is easier than from most Ibiza clubs.

• Book early for big names. The small capacity means tickets go fast.
