Posted by Brandon B.AdminFort Lawton became parkland in the 1970s and is now the largest park in Seattle: 534 acres of meadow, forest, sea cliff and two miles of tidal beach, with the West Point Lighthouse at the tip. The Loop Trail is a flat 2.8 miles; the walk down to the lighthouse is the one that earns the view across to the Olympics, and it is a real climb back. The Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center sits inside the park, on land reclaimed in a 1970 occupation led by Bernie Whitebear.
