Posted by Brandon B.AdminFujitaro Kubota bought five acres of swampy logged land in 1927 and spent the next five decades turning it into a Japanese garden, interrupted by the years his family spent interned at Minidoka during the war. The city bought it in 1987. Twenty acres now, with a Mountainside, the Moon Bridge, streams and ponds and some very old pruned pines. It is in Rainier Beach, a long way from the tourist map, free to enter, and on most weekday mornings you will have it almost to yourself.
