Posted by Brandon B.AdminOscar Niemeyer designed it in the 1950s and it was finished, after a long struggle, in 1966: a sinuous S-curve of thirty-eight storeys holding over a thousand apartments and some five thousand residents, with its own postcode and a commercial gallery running underneath. It is a working building rather than a monument, and the ground floor is as scruffy as the curve above is elegant. Rooftop visits run on a booked schedule through the building's own administration and are worth arranging in advance for the view over the centre.
