Hï Ibiza: The Club on the Old Space Site
Hï Ibiza (often written simply as Hi Ibiza) is a superclub in Playa d'en Bossa, on the south coast of the island, about a ten-minute drive from Ibiza Town. It opened on 28 May 2017 in the building that for three decades was Space, one of the most famous clubs in electronic music history. If you have an old guidebook or a friend's story about Space, this is the same address, reborn under new management.
It has been a remarkable second act. Hï was voted the number one club in the world in the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs poll four years running, from 2022 to 2025, a record for the list. It is run by The Night League, the same group behind Ushuaïa, which sits directly across the road, and [UNVRS], the hyperclub that replaced Privilege in 2025.
From Space to Hï
Space opened in Playa d'en Bossa in 1986 and became known worldwide for its Terrace, where people danced in daylight as planes came in low over the roof towards the airport next door. It helped define the idea of the day-to-night Ibiza party, and it held some of the island's longest-running residencies before closing in 2016.
When Hï took over, the building was rebuilt rather than simply rebranded. The old spaces were redesigned and renamed, and the result feels far more like a modern production venue than the Space many people remember. The history is part of why the address still matters, but the night you will have here is a 2020s night, not a 1990s one.
Inside the Club
Hï is built around two main rooms that deliberately feel different from each other:
- The Theatre is the big room. It is laid out like an amphitheatre, with a huge production rig, LED work running the length of the ceiling and VIP tables raised above the dancefloor. This is where the headline shows happen.
- The Club is smaller, lower and darker, with the DJ at the centre of the room. It is built for the music rather than the spectacle, and it is often where the more underground side of a night lives.
Both rooms usually run their own headline DJs on the same night, so it is worth checking the full lineup for each before you go. There are also outdoor garden areas for a break from the dancefloor.
Who Plays Here
Hï runs themed residencies through the season, each on a fixed night of the week. Artists who have held residencies here include Black Coffee, CamelPhat, Dom Dolla, HUGEL, James Hype and MEDUZA. The music leans towards house, tech house and melodic sounds, but it varies a lot by night, so pick the residency rather than just the club.
Season, Hours and Tickets
- Season: Ibiza's clubs run from late April to early October, with opening parties in spring and closing parties in late September and October. July and August are the peak.
- Hours: nights typically start around 11:30pm or midnight and run until about 6am. Doors open early, but the rooms fill well after midnight.
- Tickets: prices change with the night and the headliner. Buying in advance through the official site at hiibiza.com is usually cheaper than the door and is the only safe option on the biggest nights.
Getting There
Hï is on the main strip of Playa d'en Bossa, a few minutes from Ibiza Airport and around ten minutes by car from Ibiza Town. Taxis are the most common option, and many visitors staying in Playa d'en Bossa simply walk. Ushuaïa is across the road, which makes it easy to go straight from an early evening show there into Hï once Ushuaïa closes around midnight.
Getting home is the harder part. Taxis are in short supply at 6am in high season, so plan your ride back before the night starts.
Tips for Your Night
- Check which DJ is playing in the Theatre and which is in the Club, since they are separate experiences.
- Buy tickets in advance for any big-name residency.
- Pair it with Ushuaïa across the road for a full day-to-night plan.
- Arrange transport home before you go in.
- Drinks inside are expensive, so eat properly beforehand.
FAQ
Is Hï Ibiza the same club as Space?
It is the same site in Playa d'en Bossa, but not the same club. Space closed in 2016, and Hï Ibiza opened in the rebuilt venue in May 2017 under different operators.
Is Hï Ibiza open all year?
No. Like Ibiza's other big clubs it is seasonal, typically open from late April to early October, and closed through the winter.
What is the difference between Hï and Ushuaïa?
They are run by the same group and sit across the road from each other. Ushuaïa is an open-air venue whose shows finish around midnight, while Hï is an indoor club that runs from around midnight until morning.
