Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park
319 2nd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104, USAB
Posted by Brandon B.AdminA National Park Service unit occupying a restored 1889 warehouse in Pioneer Square, and free. The subject is not the Klondike itself but what it did to Seattle: the city sold the outfits, the passage and the provisions to a hundred thousand people heading north in 1897-98, and made more money doing it than nearly anyone made digging. The displays are strong on the ton of supplies each prospector was required to carry. An hour, and it explains the city's whole nineteenth century.
