Founded in 1881 and housed in the old municipal palace on Plaza Botero, this is where the indoor half of the Botero gift lives — paintings as well as sculpture, plus works by the European and Latin American artists Botero donated alongside his own. The rest of the collection runs from pre-Hispanic material through Colombian modernism, and the temporary programme is usually worth checking. Two hours covers it comfortably. Combining it with the square outside makes a natural half-day in the centre.
