History
The cathedral’s first construction started in 1545 using materials from a destroyed settlement. Due to frequent earthquakes, it underwent several reconstructions. The third and final version, completed in 1680, was crafted by master Joseph de Porres. After the 1773 earthquakes, it suffered severe damage and was eventually moved to Guatemala City.
