The hill on the western edge of the city where Maximilian of Habsburg and his two generals were shot by firing squad in June 1867, ending the Second Mexican Empire. A small chapel paid for by the Austrian government marks the spot, and an enormous statue of Benito Juárez stands above it making the opposite point. The rest is a public park that the city uses for walking and running. It is a short ride from the centre and is more significant than it is scenic.
