The house where Ignacio Allende was born in 1769, on the corner of the Jardín, now a museum run by the national institute of anthropology and history. The ground floor covers the Bajío before independence; the upper rooms deal with Allende himself and the 1810 conspiracy that started a few miles away in Dolores. Labelling is largely in Spanish. It is small — an hour is plenty — but it is the one place in town that explains the second half of the name, and the building itself is a good example of a wealthy creole house of the period.
